1. Richard is included mainly on the basis of his entry in the 1851 census, when he is living in Ash with his wife and two sons. He gives his age as 57, but all the family seem to have overestimated their age by a few years. The bits which link him to this family are that (a) he was born in Worplesdon and (b) Richard's wife and William's wife appear to be sisters.
2. There is a Richard Walden Ethrod born in Ash 9/7/1797, the illigitimate son of Mary Ethrod of Worplesdon. Presumably the father was a Walden and admitted the fact, since the baby was christened with the middle name of Walden. I am guessing that he was brought up by Richard and Amelia Walden, and the 'Ethrod' bit was soon dropped.
1. Note that the record of Jane's christening in the IGI is with the spelling Symmonds.
2. In the 1851 census Richard Walden is living in Ash with his wife Jane, who says that she is aged 56 and born in Pirbight. As with both her husband and her sister Elizabeth, all the ages seem a little overstated.
3. The IGI has a Jane Simmonds in Pirbright who appears to have had a fatherless son Thomas. See also her sister Elizabeth.
