No record of the birth of Marcin Kuhler has yet been found. He married Katarzyna nee Szmelcel (?) on 29/8/1842 in the civil parish of Pabianice. At the time of Karol Kuhler's birth his father's occupation was said to be tenant farmer.
The earliest record seen of the family is the birth in 1817 of Jan Karol Kuhler, a brother of Marcin Kuhler, in Bukowiec. His parents were Mikolaj and Dorota. (At the time of his birth Bukowiec was known as Kolonia Koenigsbach.)
There is also a record of the death of Karol Kuhler's grandfather, Mikolaj Kuhler, in Pabianice in 1866.
