1. There is an entry in the PRO Index for the birth of Joseph Sparshott in 2nd Qtr 1853 (PRO ref. Vol 2a, p264). I am guessing that he is a brother to Rebecca. In the 1861 census there is a Joseph, aged 7, living in the family of George Sparshott, so this is presumably the same guy.
2. In the 1881 census the only remotely plausible candidate is Joseph Sparshole (sic) aged 27 and born in Chatham, Kent. Apart from the spelling, this looks right. He is a lodger with the family of James Baskett at 38 Park Crescent Road in Brighton. He is a Joiner, as also is James Baskett, so we guess that he is lodging with his employer.
3. By the 1901 census he appears to be in Felpham, Sussex with his profession as 'Beer retailer, Grocer, Carpenter'. (His name has reverted to Sparhott). (I have only looked at the index, so I don't know whether he is married or has a family.)
