1. Rober Bailey was the informant at the death of his daugher Emily in 1916. He gave his address as 97 Britannia Street, Hoxton.
2. I have searched for the family of Robert and Emily Bailey in the 1901 census without coming to an obvious conclusion. Looking for Emily Bailey we have a choice of two born in Clerkenwell. One is aged 41 and living in East Ham; the other is aged 42 and living in Hackney. Both have husbands with totally unsuitable names.
The best bet appears to be the family of Robert Bailey and his wife Ellen. Both are aged 43; he was born in St Lukes and she in Clerkenwell, which is quite close to what we want. Unfortunately, having looked at the actual census page image, there is no doubt about the wife's name and it is definitely Ellen, not Emily. I still think that it must be a possibility. They are living with 4 children : John (16), Mary (13), Kate (10) and Albert (5). Their address is 7 Berkley Court, Clerkenwell.
3. I have searched the PRO index from 1874 - 1879 inclusive for the marriage of Robert Bailey and Emily Matthews. I have only looked at London entries- but with no success. Unfortunately, since they both told the 1881 census that they were born in Clerkenwell, it is hard to believe that they were married outside London.
1. The identification of Emily Louisa as the mother of Emily Louisa Bailey is based on an 'In Memoriam' card which has survived. It gives the date of her death in 1920 and says that she was then aged 60. Her burial location is Grave No. 241, Manor Park Cemetery.
