1. His birth certificate gives his place of birth as No.2, Osmington, The Village, St. Peter Port, Guernsey.
2. His marriage certificate gives his address as 15, Highclere Street, Sydenham, and his profession as Carpenter.
3. In 1937 he purchased a burial plot (No. 135, Plot V) in Hither Green Cemetery. (Maybe he bought this for his father, Walter, who died about 2 months earlier ?) At that time his address was 36 Acacia Road, Sydenham.
4. His death certificate gives his address as 154, Long Elmes, Harrow Weald. His profession is given as 'Bricklayer (retired)'.
1. Her birth certificate says that she was born at 48 Helmet Row, in the Holborn registration district. Her father's profession is given as Printer compositor.
2. Her marriage certificate gives her address as 49, Rosenthal Road, Catford, where she is a domestic servant. (Her employers are reputed to have been a well-known name among piano manufacturers). Her father is Sam Fisher (deceased), a bricklayer's labourer.
3. Emily had 3 half-sisters Mary, Rose and Frances, these being born from the second marriage of Emily Bailey to James Whitaker. Emily started work in service aged about 14. At about this time the younger children went to Dr Barnado's orphanage in Shoreditch, presumably when their mother died. It is said that neither Emily nor Mary were ever willing to talk about their childhood.
4. Her death certificate says that she was born on 31/8/1900 in Clerkenwell, Islington. (The informant was her son Freddy.) Her address at the time was 154, Long Elms, Harrow Weald.
