PARTIES Thomas SMITH (d) of Spalding, Lincolnshire. Keeper for the Sessions House Hannah Shaw SINCLAIR of Spalding Lincolnshire SUBJECT The document is entitled "Abstract of Title of the Trustees for Sale under the Will of the Late Thomas Smith to a Cottage and Garden in New Road, Spalding, contracted to be sold to Miss Hannah Shaw Sinclair". It records events relating to this cottage beginning in 1831 when John Smith died leaving it to his wife Ann. She died in 1857 leaving it to her son Thomas. He died in 1872 leaving it to his wife Sarah for her lifetime and then to be sold to his Trustees. Sarah died in 1883 and the sale has now been agreed. The document is not explicitly dated but "1883" has been written on the cover and the paper is also watermarked 1883.
