Richard STARES of Hambledon, Hampshire. Cordwainer. AND Elizabeth his wife. James STARES of Catherington, Hampshire. Carpenter. John LANGTRY of Danmead, Parish of Hambledon, Hampshire. SUBJECT The document begins by reciting the will of Richard SHAFT of Danmead, Hambledon, (since deceased), in which he left property in Hambledon to his nephew, Robert Stares, but the property was charged with annuities payable to 2 other nephews and a niece - Richard, James and Ann Stares. It appears that the property has since passed into the hands of John Langtry, but the annuities are still chargeable on it. John Langtry is now buying out these annuities from Richard and James Stares for £100 and £84 respectively. Accordingly, this document releases the charge on the property. The property consists of 2 parcels of land both near the Windmill in Hambledon. One is of 11 acres called Mill Square, and the other of 16 acres is called Duckets. The Mill itself appears to have been included in the original will of Richard Shaft. | |||||||||||
