| PARTIES (to the main Indenture)
George CARPENTER of Wroughton, Wiltshire. Victualler. Mary PAVY of Wroughton, Wiltshire. Widow. Additional party to the 1853 Indenture Robert PROWSE of Wroughton, Wiltshire. Victualler. SUBJECT The document concerns copyhold land in the Manor and Parish of Wroughton, Wiltshire, which is jointly held by 2 brothers, George and Edward Carpenter, for the duration of 3 lives. We are told that in 1830 George and Edward Carpenter mortgaged this property to Jane Maria GRAILY of Chistleton, Wiltshire, for £300. Then in 1831, George Carpenter mortgaged his half share to William PAVY for a further £278. William Pavy has since died leaving his wife Mary as sole executrix of his will. Since then, George Carpenter has borrowed a further £243 from Mary Pavy, and this sum is now being added as a further charge to the mortgage. By the time of the second Indenture of 1853, the sum owing to Mary Pavy has been reduced to £369. She is then transferring the mortgage to Robert Prowse. | ||||||||||||
