| PARTIES
Henry NEGUS of Bungay, Suffolk. (Esquire) Samuel GOWING of Eye, Suffolk. (Gentleman) Thomas TALLENT of Saxlingham, Norfolk. (Gentleman) James JOHNSON (deceased) late of Kirstead, Norfolk. (Farmer) Mary JOHNSON of Kirstead, Norfolk (Widow of James Johnson) Thomas SMITH of Rushall, Norfolk. (Farmer) SUBJECT This is a contract of sale by Lease and Release. The two parts, the Lease and the Release are both included here as separate documents. The Release begins by reciting that James Johnson has recently died having appointed Samuel Gowing, Thomas Tallent and his wife Mary, as his executors. He has instructed them to sell his property in Rushall and Dickleburgh, and this they are now doing at a price of £140, to Thomas Smith. The property consists of a tenement with barn and 5 acres of land. Henry Negus is a party to the contract because, in 1777, James Johnson had mortgaged the property to him for £135, and he is now acknowledging that the mortgage has been repaid. | |||||||||||
