Mary POVEY of Malpas, Cheshire. Spinster. SUBJECT The document begins by reciting a marriage settlement of 1803 prior to the marriage of Mary Leacroft - party to this Indenture). It settled various property on Thomas Leacroft for his life, after which it would be in the hands of trustees for the benefit of the children of the marriage. May Ann, Ellen and Harriett Leacroft are surviving daughters. Included in that settlement (possibly among other things), was a messuage called Willascroft ( or Woolascroft) near Stone, Staffordshire. Each of the three daughters are eventually entitled to a one-fifth share of this property. (We are not told what happened to the other two-fifths). This three-fifth share of the property is now being mortaged to Mary Povey for £250. The Leacrofts already have another ortgage for £00 outstanding on the smae property. | |||||||||||||
