SUBJECT
The Indenture concerns a cottage with one-and-a-half acres of copyhold land in th Manor of Preston upon Wye, Parish of Madley, Herefordshire. It is bounded on the South by the highway from Cublington to Shenmore,

We are told that this had been held by Thomas Prosser amd Elizabeth his wife. After their deaths it pased in 1845 jointly to their 4 daughters : Lucy the wife of Richard PARRY, Anne the wife of Thomas STATUM, Elizabeth the wife of Benjamin WATKINS (party here to) and Sarah the wife of Henry WATKINS. then in 1857, Benjamin Watkins acquired the share which was in the hands of Sarah and Henry Watkins, followed in 1858 by the share of Anne and Thomas Statum.

Benjamin Watkins is now borrowing £100 from Henry Duggan which is now three-quarters of the whole plot. To complete the contract this Indenture is a covenant to surrender the property to the Lord of the Manor.
