Charles Colenutt of Pound, Parish of Kewchurch, Isle of Wight. Wine Merchant. Robert William Bloxam of Ryde, Isle of Wight. Surgeon. Subject The Indenture concerns a plot of land in Pound, Parish of Kewchurch, Isle of Wight, in the East of the highway from Ryde to Upton. It contains 1 acre, 1 rood and 37 perches. The document begins by reciting an Indenture of 1856 in which Charles Colenutt obtains a lease for 1000 years on a larger plot of land (totalling 7 acres) which includes the above, at a rent of £40 per annum. Then, in 1858, the smaller (1 acre) part was leased to William Henry Hamilton, and 1862 William Hamilton assigned the lease to Margaret Wray for the residue of a term of 996 years. Also in 1862, Charles Colenutt appears to have bought the reversion of the original 7 acre plot, now with a house built on it. Charles Colenutt is now selling the reversion of the smaller 1 acre part to Robert Bloxham for £200, but it is still subject to the 996 year lease and in the occupation of Miss Wray. | |||||||||||||
