| TESTATOR
Charles Burgess of Reading, Berkshire. Shopkeeper. BENEFICIARIES Thomas Burgess (brother) Elizabeth Sherwood (sister) Mary Woodroffe (sister) Sarah Burgess (wife) SUBJECT This has the appearance of the copy of a will which would normally have a grant of probate attached. There is no such grant but it looks as though there was once a pendant seal attached (as it usual with a probate). The will itself does not mention a date, but 11/09/1773 is written on the outside. I would guess that this is the date on which probate was granted. Thomas Burgess gives £10 to his brother and each of the 2 sisters mentioned, leaving the remainder of his estate to his wife. His executors are his wife and his brother in law, Edward Pittman. | ||||||||||||
