This space will be used to tell you about us – Allan and Brenda and how
we hope this site will develop.
We will explain our interest in family history, tell you a little about
our own, and describe our quest to find as many old documents as possible
and get them onto the FamilyChest website so that others can use them to piece
together their family histories.
At the moment, Allan is spending half his spare time deciphering and summarising
the documents, which is quite a task, as the script can be difficult to read
and the terminology convoluted.Brenda
is busy doing the administration, adding the 1000s of documents we have accumulated
to the FamilyChest database, and populating this website. Over the coming
months you should see great progress.
This website started out as an interesting hobby but is now rapidly turning
into a full time occupation.We have
estimated that on average a document takes approximately 2 hours to purchase,
decipher, summarise, catalogue, add to the database, photograph and upload.We intend to keep up the pace and update our
lists with new documents at least twice a month.
